“The Energetics of Intimacy, Attachment and Sexuality”

Discover the subtleties of relating intimately

This workshop examines:  “What happens in myself, my body, and my being in relation to others?”

 Open to:

• Individuals, either coupled or not, and actively sexual or not

• Anyone wanting to heal attachment wounds, hoping to learn to receive and give love and pleasure in new and profound ways

• Couples wanting to improve their physical and emotional intimacy

• People hoping to find satisfying relationships, or for

• Therapists who work with any of the above

This 3 day workshop focuses on connection to self, the heart and the body, while being in proximity with others. You do not need to be in couple relationship to get great benefit from this program. Nor does your partner need to be present.

The goal is to identify and experience the subtle and not-so-obvious ways we engage intimately, and how to open to new and yet-to-be explored possibilities of joy, closeness and pleasure.

We’ll combine lectures, videos, the latest research, small group discussions, movement and dance, plus an array of gentle, respectful exercises to make for a rich and varied program. Mindful embodiment, sensation tracking and self-touch explorations are core practices as we get comfortable with the body as the ultimate “experiencer”. The goal is clearer boundaries, increased pleasure, self-acceptance and self-love, and greater freedom to explore your sexy/sensual self, playfully in new and different ways, without shame.

 After the weekend, participants will:

• get a compact over view of attachment styles

• come away with a clearer understanding of the subtle levels of relating that occur under conscious awareness

• recognize and reduce triggers, enabling genuine wants and needs to emerge…..and learn to communicate these effectively

• learn tools for staying present and embodied

• identify deep desires and yearnings, and notice what gets in the way of opening to them

• practice asking for what you want, and learning to receive

Topics we will cover include all of the above, plus:

• Identify genuine “yeses” and “noes”, as well as “turn-ons” and “turn-offs” in intimacy.

• Learn about your ”erotic style”

• The basics of sensual touch for both women and men (fully clothed)

plus many more!

Uncovering the Roots of Sexuality Trauma --Part 1 of the 4 part certificate series - The Netherlands, In Person

Uncovering the Roots of Sexuality Trauma—Part 1

Part 1 of a 4 part series leading to Somatic Sexuality Healing Practitioner Certificate

Who are we at our core?

If we were to remove all of the social conditioning, the religious, racial and cultural messages forced on us, all of the generations of sexism, misogyny and shame, all the judgments and expectations of family and peers, and all the traumas we have experienced:

  • Who are we underneath all of it?

  • How would we inhabit our bodies in ways that reflect our true nature?

  • How would we express and receive affection, sensuality and sexuality… on our terms… in our most genuine and authentic way?

  • How to achieve ease and pleasure in our own bodies, identify biases, and recognise discomfort with sexuality so that we can all be a clear and effective support to clients

  • How do we uncover our desires and attractions, and identify what inhibits them? Are these real, or are these learned?

  • What is the best way to break old patterns in relationships and move towards healthy intimacy?

  • How do we heal specifically what is damaged by the above influences?

This first module is the foundation of the Full Embodiment (FE) practice.

  • Decades in its formation—FE combines the latest in somatic healing practices and trauma-informed sex education. Recognising the common dilemmas and challenges that practitioners face in their office, plus the countless ways people all over the world struggle with shame, disconnection to their bodies and sexuality, this program is especially designed for all people to find their way home to self, to pleasure and to greater intimacy..

It examines the developmental imprints and other formative influences that sabotage an easeful, shame-free relationship with ourselves as sexual/sensual beings. We will slowly rebuild that which was scarred by generations of sexual oppression, misogyny and cultural and religious influences.

    Healing Strategies:

  • Participants will develop a personalized, self-paced embodiment practice

  • Time will be spent examining our relationship to sex and sexuality, and then developing new strategies and goals that more authentically express our true or ideal nature

  • We’ll uncover biases and triggers both professionally and personally. The intention is to find ease when discussing sex and pelvic anatomy with clients and intimates.

  • We’ll examine the messages we were given about gender and what it means to be male/female,..and learn to access and embody more authentic beliefs and desires, identities and expressions underneath the shame and conditioning.

  • The focus of this module is on self-exploration and personal enhancement, however it will provide numerous useful strategies for therapists working with sexuality and trauma.

  • There will be suggested readings, journaling, between module peer support and required group supervisions

The focus is solely on HEALING….We will NOT be working sexual trauma in any workshop….

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN PERSONALLY:

  • Get comfortable talking about the body and discussing sexuality issues with your clients and intimates.

  • Become friendlier with your body, and inhabit it with new levels of comfort and awareness

WHO WILL BENEFIT

Professionals wishing to become more adept at being embodied and sexually more authentic. Clients, partners and non-SE professionals are also welcome to join. But they must be well-regulated and ready to step into the material. We will not have the staff to support high maintenance individuals.

price is €695

As professionals, we encounter and work with sexuality trauma in different ways.

This seminar aims to provide information on how to work with sexual trauma from a Somatic Experiencing (SE) perspective.

From an SE perspective, sexual traumas can include the following issues: Body image issues, resisting being in one's own body, feeling shame about body and sexuality, sexual or gender identity issues, experiencing sexual incompatibility as a couple, having been sexually harassed/assaulted in adulthood or having experienced sexual trauma in childhood... In addition to these, traumas related to birth/pre-birth and social conditioning in line with gender roles can also be experienced as sexuality trauma.

In this seminar, our trainer Ariel Giarretto, who specializes in Somatic Experiencing (SE) and sexuality trauma, will share with us information on how to work with sexuality traumas in line with the principles of SE approach. This seminar, which will also include new information and exercises in the field of Somatic Experiencing, aims to provide professionals with new and effective tools to best support people who have experienced sexuality trauma.

About presenter:

Ariel Giarretto, MS, LMFT, SEP has been a body-oriented trauma therapist for many decades. On staff at the Esalen Institute throughout the 90's, she studied with some of the finest somatic teachers and sexuality /Tantra experts. Trained in a wide variety of somatic therapies, she is primarily informed by Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing (SE), the beautiful, heart-centered work that treats the physiological effects of the trauma, as well as connects people to their deepest, core self. For 19 years she had been full-time SE teaching faculty, training and mentoring professionals all over the globe. She is trained as a bodyworker, and is a certified Somatic Sex Educator and Sexological Bodyworker. She has extensive training in pre and perinatal psychology, and attachment and developmental trauma, and volunteered for many years as a doula.

What participants say about the workshop:

“Ariel’s course for SEPs offers brilliant interventions for supporting survivors of sexual assault. The space she creates is safe, welcoming, choiceful, permissive, and gently playful. The experiential components provide powerful tools for recognizing when and how practitioner's own moralizing beliefs and sexual stories diminish our capacities to hold open, accepting space for our clients. She teaches concrete, non-invasive tools for exploration with survivor clients; these tools sustainably cultivate safe, affirming and yet sensuous, intimate connection with self. I appreciate that I was immediately able to integrate these tools into my practice with real ease, which I attribute to Ariel’s skillful translation of her material. And I'm amazed by the ripple effects of this weekend experience: for me the theme of this workshop was radically compassionate self-acceptance of one's sexuality.” K. F. SEP, Somatic Therapist & Anthropologist

“Thank you so much for offering this workshop. This is my second workshop in three years with Ariel. I notice after each weekend that I am more comfortable being in my own body, and way more comfortable talking to clients about their sexual experience, desire, inhibition and embodiment. Sexual Trauma Healing provided me with information, insight and exercises that immediately helped me to work with some of my most challenging clients with more ease and confidence, especially in gently challenging rather than colluding with their discomfort and shame.   Sandy, SEP/MFT Associate

CANCELLED-Milan, Italy---Opening to Desire--Beyond Trauma and Attachment--- presented by Kekuni Minton and Ariel Giarretto

A primary complaint around sex for most couples (and many individuals) is the death of sexual desire in the relationship.  In many cases the problem may be attributable to the need to work through both the developmental and traumatic beliefs that we have about our own sexuality.  These beliefs are in turn underpinned by a corresponding relationally-engendered pattern in the body that may “turn off” the machinery of desire toward our partner.

In this workshop we will explore the psychology of desire, the obstacles to desire in the mind and body, and how to open to the healing power of sexual desire.

RESCHEDULED Fall 2023 Zurich, Switzerland --The Energetics of Intimacy and Attachment--with Ariel Giarretto, MS, LMFT, SEP

Exploring the subtleties of the body in relationship.

This workshop examines: “What happens in myself, my body, and my being in relation to others?”

It examines the layers of physiological and emotional experience that occur while being in proximity with others. You do not need to be in a couple relationship to get great benefit from this program. Nor does your partner need to be present. The weekend will be both experiential and educational, and professionals will walk away with valuable new ways of working with couples and individuals who struggle with intimacy.

You will discover the subtle and not-so-obvious ways that you engage intimately, and how to open to new and yet-to-be explored possibilities of joy, closeness and pleasure. The goal is to identify authentic availability vs reactive boundaries, leading to greater freedom to explore your sexy self playfully in new and different ways, without shame.

New workshop for somatic professionals just added!! A special training designed specifically for the SE Community

All of us work with clients who have experienced sexual trauma as a child, sexual assault as adults, with couples who grapple with sexual incompatibilities, or people who struggle with sexual identity, body image and just generally resist being in their bodies.

This workshop is designed to tackle just these issues, and aimed at helping practitioners acquire a variety of new and effective tools to best serve these clients—even the toughest ones. Introducing material not covered in the SE training.
